bunghunny I'm all here for the shift into black metal! Favorite track: Eclipse Awe (Feat. Rocco Minichiello).
j-kep
j-kep thumbnail
j-kep Just a remarkable listen. Bands don’t do things like this—gradually (d)evolving subgenre stylings across a release—and yet it feels organic and cohesive. Top-notch songwriting and lyrics to boot. Sublation: way more interesting than your favorite band. Favorite track: Eclipse Awe (Feat. Rocco Minichiello).
Lloyd James
Lloyd James thumbnail
Lloyd James A towering creative achievement, the way this transitions from aggressive techy-melodic death metal to dark atmospheric black metal in a way that feels entirely natural has to be heard to be understood. Favorite track: Eclipse Awe (Feat. Rocco Minichiello).
caggac
caggac thumbnail
caggac This band is sick. The amount of effort put into their work always shows and this EP is no different. After loving the album from last year, its fantastic to see these two define their sound even more and express it through a sort of conceptual album! I kept telling myself I was ready for this and still found myself in awe. Great stuff, also amazing album art! Favorite track: Eclipse Awe (Feat. Rocco Minichiello).

stormlandbrand Just a phenomenal listen. I really don't know what else to say. Fantastic job, dudes! Favorite track: Congenital Putrescence.
Warangelic
Warangelic thumbnail
Warangelic I can see that this album embraces the more black metal side of the band's influences but I welcome it. The production is superb too. And I must say, it's a great follow-up to the already amazing debut album. Favorite track: this little death.

This wicked tongue it flicks along these shattered, broken ivories I am the one who came unbound, I fought the time that’s given to me This gaping maw becomes a wound I gnaw this flaking, pustule flesh My body shakes as this disease consumes my mind, my soul, my breath These sights are more horrific than my dreams This night I learn the pointlessness of vanity My father’s blood betrays me I don’t know why I fought This rot consumes and flays me Cursed reclamation of what's lost A blackened mass begins to spread, it grows too deep to be excised My skin, it bleeds and breaks away, revealing secrets locked inside Festering rot endlessly spreads Indifference towards my fated plight Osseous discharge grants this broken husk a fleeting respite I BECOME FORMLESS ICON OF DISEASE I BECOME FORMLESS ICON OF DISEASE The sinews grasp at what they can like branches reaching for the sun Red tendrils wrap around ossein clefts As dermis comes undone A bloody mass congeals and rusts Breaking away fragments of flesh Corruption gains control as it consumes my mind, my soul, my breath I become formless Icon of disease Corruption’s indifference made pointless my vanity I am the abscess secreting vile miseries These autocannibalistic urges sustain my entropy These sights are more horrific than my dreams This night I learn the pointlessness of vanity My father’s blood betrays me I don’t know why I fought This rot consumes and flays me Cursed reclamation of what's lost

A great deluge Will not set things right The sea it seethes A cancer grows inside These monolithic spires belching nebulous disease The cost of hubris in reaching towards celestial peaks Man will bleach the earth Until the sun has set on all that’s left The beasts They bleed A stillborn crop is sown Drink deep Decay You feast on ash and bone Your progeny will burst, their synthetic blood will crystallize Corruption runs so deep there's nothing left to purify Man will bleach the earth Until the sun has set on all that’s left You cannot chase the stars Exsanguinate the sun Reaching for glory Grasping oblivion Like a fire that consumes all before it Avarice is a noose I will incinerate it An endless sea of ash spreads out before me I swim sulfuric waves, ingesting atrophy My withered lungs breathe in ash ‘till it hurts I stand on beds of glass, I watch the sun burst A void painted black, nothing but time is left Every planet consumed and every star is dead This universe is a collapsing vein Nothing to monopolize Not even ash remains

I have been down this road I know where it ends Disgusted by the known My contempt breeds within No longer do I wonder My sense of awe eclipsed I cannot take another wretched day of this I grasp at light, I suffocate it I’ve become numb, my life, bromidic This reclamation, unsubstantiated There is no pleasure that I have not corrupted Al risveglio da ogni notte, ci ritroviamo più vuoti: i nostri misteri e le nostre sofferenze si sono dileguati nei nostri sogni. Così, il riposo notturno non soltanto attenua la potenza del nostro pensiero, ma ne smorza persino i segreti più intimi. I wrap myself in bliss I’m getting sick from it Overindulgence Euphoric necrosis No longer do I wonder My sense of awe eclipsed I cannot take another wretched day of this I grasp at light, I suffocate it I’ve become numb, my life, bromidic This reclamation, unsubstantiated There is no pleasure that I have not corrupted I see the stars, no longer do I weep This world is conquered, known, complete We were explorers, we charted seas We cultivated indifference, we became beasts I dream no more My grief consumes Delight in death, my end, my truth

I speak with shadows Nameless shrouded harbingers Recounting tales of how my breath was stolen away Plague doctor’s mask Sunken eyes, my guiding light This muffled choir chokes on verses that cause my dismay Isolate Reverberate and Suffocate I replay these fading memories Until the slate is blank Sterilized Derealized And demoralized This flesh is all that’s left There’s only rot behind these eyes I lose more every day An excision takes the pain away I know that something’s wrong Tell me why I’m even holding on I can’t remember what is killing me It’s name, unfamiliar to my lips This looming death takes hold and I cannot scream Each day I’m more easily convinced Faded asylum Sun bleached halls with forgotten pasts I’m just a waning sentiment that time will bury Your shattered golem Another extinguished light A life unfinished is all that I will ever be Isolate Reverberate and Suffocate I replay these fading memories Until the slate is blank Sterilized Derealized And demoralized This flesh is all that’s left There’s only rot behind these eyes I lose more every day An excision takes the pain away I know that something’s wrong Tell me why I’m even holding on Don't pull me from this stupor I don't want to forget In dreams I can remember That I have nothing left Don't pull me from this stupor I don't want to forget In dreams I can remember That I have nothing left I can’t remember what is killing me It’s name, unfamiliar to my lips This looming death takes hold and I cannot scream Each day I’m more easily convinced

These infinite branches spreading, reaching for eternity I dream of the end of history and all its memory I want the total annihilation of this wicked tree Decomposition spreads throughout the roots of eve I see you floating in the void I will not cut the cord Man’s flesh, a decaying mass with no continuation It is from her that the first cords emerged With every woman a new cord came to be Corpulent tendrils reaching out of seeping crevasses The horrors of existence sewn with each new seed These infinite branches spreading, reaching for eternity I dream of the end of history and all its memory I want the total annihilation of this wicked tree Decomposition spreads throughout the roots of eve I see you floating in the void I will not cut the cord Man’s flesh, a decaying mass with no continuation It is from her that the first cords emerged With every woman a new cord came to be Corpulent tendrils reaching out of seeping crevasses The horrors of existence sewn with each new seed Understand me! What I dream is not the end of human history But mankind itself! No beginning! No end! No memory of this ill-fated mistake This pleasureless existence Truly inconceivable, the horrors of humanity This icon of disease with her navel-less belly Can you imagine the crimson rain of rotting flesh? On this void she makes her bed, giving birth to total death I want the total annihilation of this wicked tree Decomposition spreads throughout the roots of eve These infinite branches spreading, reaching for eternity I dream of the end of history and all its memory I want the total annihilation of this wicked tree Decomposition spreads throughout the roots of eve I see you floating in the void I will not cut the cord Man’s flesh, a decaying mass with no continuation The futility of feigning your significance I shall not weep as the base starts to fall These branches shatter reaching towards eternity Eve’s throat is slashed, her body in death throes I dream of the end of human history and all its memory I want annihilation, abolition of any future

This little death This insignificant life of mine Should I have held on as long as I have? Don’t bring me back If you’re the one who finds me here This rot is all that’s left This flesh is all I ever was Inject the end This liquid death replaces me A toothless mouth will scream A legless husk will crawl This endless torment This fleeting feeling that my pleasures were corrosive That my despair’s deserving Replace what you thought I was With the casket they bury me in Both equally empty Destined for the ground This wound that I become This gestating flesh Anguish is its language Disdain is its script Write me out of history Replay these fading memories Until the tape dissolves Until the page is blank I won’t be a stain On the page that you past is written I want to be nothing Unknowable, unseen I’ve seen men flee from birth They struggle to forget this capacious void This place where I belong This place we all return No longer will I fear No longer will I feel this burden of life incomplete Of self, destitute This little death This insignificant life of mine Should I have held on as long as I have? Don’t bring me back If you’re the one who finds me here This rot is all that’s left This flesh is all I ever was Inject the end This liquid death replaces me A toothless mouth will scream A legless husk will crawl This endless torment This fleeting feeling that my pleasures were corrosive That my despair’s deserving Replace what you thought I was With the casket they bury me in Both equally empty Destined for the ground

about

Press:

"I applaud Sublation for trying something innovative, and in a world where the quality of the concept all too often exceeds the actual final product, I applaud them for absolutely nailing the execution. Lest there be any doubt, On The Advancement Of Decay comes very highly recommended." - Sleeping Village Reviews

"The cohesiveness of this narrative is downright remarkable. If you take two songs at random it still feels like they belong together, which is about as high of a compliment as I can give to a project like this." - Noobheavy

"Whether this marks a new direction or is simply a side step remains to be seen but either way it demonstrates they can turn their hands to anything they desire and make it work, this Blackened Death Metal offering being of the highest order [8/10]" - metalnoise.net
